Cape Vincent Real Estate

Cape Vincent is where Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River meet. The village is nestled along the banks of the St. Lawrence River with a view to Wolfe Island, Ontario Canada. This small village is starting to grow, the recent addition of a Canadian boat building company, MetalCraft Marine and a wonderful new restaurant the Breakers have brought some new life to this sleepy little town. MetalCraft Marine’s greatest area of success is in building and designing high speed search and rescue and patrol boats. By transferring their production to this larger facility in Cape Vincent they are able to increase production.Driving down Broadway, the main street in Cape Vincent you will be charmed by some of the beautiful historic homes including the sunken garden house, noted for its beautiful gardens and the “Stone House” which is reported to have housed Canadian Rebels during the Patriot War in 1838. Further down the road is Tibbetts Point Lighthouse. This is where Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River meet. Since the lighthouse became automated they have turned the living quarters into a Hostel. If you go to you will see that it gets rave reviews. You will also find some of the best fishing around in Cape Vincent. Drive down Stony Point Road summer and winter and you will see some fishermen on the edge of Mud Bay. Cape Vincent is also home to Fox, Grenadier and Carleton Islands. Fox Island is privately owned, but both Grenadier and Carleton Islands have several seasonal residents and if you are lucky you may be able to purchase a lot on one of these great islands. But keep in mind these are boat access only; island living can take a lot of planning as getting to and from your home requires a boat!

If you are in the mood for a meal you have many options from the newest restaurant, Breakers, to the long established family dining at Aubrey’s Inn. For casual fare on the waterfront try Captain Jacks. Drive out of town a little and you can go to SunnyBank Restaurant or the Sand Bay Inn. Perfect for a relaxing evening out.

Cape Vincent also has a Family Health Center so you don’t have to go to Watertown for routine medical visits. The clinic, operated by Samaritan Medical Center has been well received by local residents for its convenient location on East Broadway St. in downtown Cape Vincent.

Cape Vincent Elementary School on Esselstyne Street houses grades K though 5. The Middle School and High School are combined in the same building on Route 9. This is located between the villages of Clayton and Cape Vincent.

If you are looking for a new home and like small town living you may want to consider Cape Vincent. In the Cape you can find everything from simple ranch homes to magnificent Victorians to spectacular homes on Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River to farms with 50+ acres.
